About

A brief look back

On Heti Mocsok, I was able to carry out almost all the plans I had set for 2025.

One of the key starting points was the launch of the book recommendation series If It’s Cringe for You, I’ll Read It Instead, within which I introduced self-development books. Alongside regular exhibition recommendations and film reviews, I also managed to make space for artist portraits. Most importantly — and to my greatest joy — I opened Mocsok-Yo-Bolt, a place where, beyond writing, I can finally present my visual work under worthy conditions.

On the other hand, what didn’t happen was a long-standing wish of mine: to feature long drinks and cocktails, illustrated with photographs. And finally — to my regret — restaurant reviews, just like the drinks section, had to be abandoned for financial reasons.

The present – Heti Mocsok and metamorphosis

You are fully justified in wondering why I still refer to Heti Mocsok on the Leende Land site. Before answering, a small detour is worth taking for the sake of clarity.

I believe culture can be served to everyone. The real question is how it is articulated. So when asked whether art can redeem society, my answer is: yes. From the outset, I believed that my own creative, organically evolving space — the surface of Heti Mocsok — could be suitable for this.

In plain terms: culture for everyone, in modern language. A good starting point. My aim is not necessarily to redeem society, but certainly to make culture accessible. Still, the past year proved too short to fully demonstrate this idea.

Then came the domain change — and with it, the Heti Mocsok / Leende Land dilemma. The primary reason was bilingualism, and with it, international presence. Heti Mocsok is a distinctly Hungarian expression: a wordplay, a cultural reference exclusively understood within a Hungarian context. And here I had to confront a mistake of my own. No matter how eye-catching the title may be for Hungarians, it is not suitable for a global platform.

Leende Land, on the other hand, has been with me since my teenage years — it is the name under which I first began to create. I will likely write about its meaning and significance in the future, which brings us to a point where, unlike my usual practice, I will state this explicitly now.

The future

A small slice of my plans for 2026: alongside the journalistic genres already present on the site, I feel it is time to introduce the blog format as well.

But for now — let that remain a secret.

In closing

The site should still be regarded as a living tissue — one that continues to evolve alongside me.

Organic.

With love, your author,

The beginnings – Heti Mocsok

All the writings, photographs – such as these – and illustrations – such as these – published on the Heti Mocsok were created by me, the author. If I ever reach the point where I invite co-authors to contribute, I will make that clear.

By profession, I’m a photojournalist and reporter, though I left the field due to financial reasons. This site has become my creative space. I don’t follow trends, which is why you won’t find daily posts or updates here. The point is to preserve my natural creative flow and balance it with the time I spend earning a living.

I’ve been creating my whole life, and it looks like that’s not going to change. I don’t use artificial intelligence for my work – I’ll say it again: I enjoy creating. I write, draw, and take photos. Drawing started out entirely analog, and in recent years I’ve shifted to digital formats, working with e-pen on tablet. I also plan to scan my earlier analog works and put them on sale through the Mocsok Yo Bolt.

If I see something good – or something bad – and feel like writing about it, I won’t keep it to myself. If I take a photo worth sharing, I’ll share it. I aim to produce timely content tied to cultural events, and you’ll also find book recommendations here from time to time.

The only exception is the Quotes section, where you’ll find excerpts from books I’ve read – naturally, I didn’t write those. Their purpose is to provoke thought, maybe even inspire you to read more. They’re not necessarily cute or wise – just honest.

Think of this site as a living tissue, evolving alongside me. I’m planning a visual update for early 2025.

Organic.

Until then, with love, your author & creator
