Retreat to Leende Land

Be aware, strong language is ahead!

Even though I encourage those around me to embrace inclusion while I warn everyone not to point fingers at others because of their look or lack of abilities, but above all I warn myself not to point fingers at others because of their look or lack of abilities. Some of my illustrations for children are about social sensitivity, teaching togetherness regardless of look or ability.

Yet, as a human being, there is one exception in my life. I know a FaT PoiSon, Viktor Orbán, the failed self-made king and servant of Satan, who has spent sixteen years bringing me to this far, where I can only point my finger at him and say—fat criminal.

I am incredibly tired of his poisonous rhetoric. His only legacy is hate, and his dream of exclusiveness has brought me to my own lowest point, where I point my finger exclusively at his appearance. I forgive myself for failing my own social sensitivity, because actions make a difference; self-respect is the key to a healthy life. After all, the only difference between a good person and a bad person is their actions—not their looks, religion, government, or how many books they’ve read.

So this is another important lesson: we all have our own mumusok (Hungarian for the monsters under the bed, pronounce: moo-moo-schock). Don’t be too hard on yourself, but remember—my mumus spent sixteen long years working to get me here.

Sooner or later, I’ll have to introduce these Mumusok to children as well. It seems like another good challenge lies ahead, and perhaps one day I’ll be mature enough to paint life’s unfairness for tiny human beings with huge spirits and hearts.

Finally, pardon my French, I take my bow, and you, my dear visitor, enjoy my latest watercolour illustration exclusively created for children.
