The Origin of Untitled Oil Pastel

There are moments in life when events align so perfectly that they make us feel everything is moving in synchronicity. Moments that seem to carry the touch of something greater than ourselves.

This oil pastel was born from one of those moments. On an ordinary Saturday, the image suddenly flashed into my mind, and it took almost an entire day to bring it into existence.

I chose not to give it a title because sometimes a title narrows the conversation, while silence leaves room for reflection.

The painting emerged from the weight of sixteen years marked by oppression, systemic injustice, corruption at the highest levels of power, and a culture of deception that buried an entire nation beneath fear, hopelessness and division. A relentless web of lies left an entire nation imprisoned in silent numbness.

There is still a long road ahead, but after sixteen years hope no longer feels like wishful thinking. For the first time in a very long time it feels as if it has found solid ground.

And justice and truth—for a nation, and ultimately for all humanity—however long delayed are something we all deeply deserve. For ourselves. For peace.
